Funeral services were held Saturday, February 29, in American Reformed Church of Orange City for Mrs. Gertrude Burggraff, formerly of Orange City, now of Artesia, Calif.

Mrs. Burggraff passed away at the infirmary of the Christian Home for the Aged in Artesia.

Mrs. Burggraaf, née Gertrude Van Oosterhout was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin P. Van Oosterhout. She was born in the Netherlands in 1874. She came to America with her parents when she was six years old. The family settled on a farm east of Orange City.

She was married to Rev. Nicholas Burggraaf, who passed away in 1928.

Survivors are one son, Stanley Burggraaf, four grandchildren and several great grandchildren ; one sister, Dena Van Oosterhout of Orange City.

Rev. and Mrs. Burggraaf served as pastor and help-meet in the Christian Reformed churches of Middleburg and Doon, Iowa, Prinsburg, Minn., Muskegon Heights, Michigan; and Lodi, New Jersey.

Mrs. Burggraaf came to reside in Orange City after her husband’s death in 1928 and continued her residency here until 8 years ago, when she went to live with her son in Artesia, Calif.

Preceding her in death are her brothers, Peter D. and Dick Van Oosterhout of Orange City, several years ago.

Rev. Alvin Hook, pastor of the American Reformed Church officiated at the services, which were in charge of the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Burial was made in the local cemetery.
