- Funeral 1:30 Friday For John B. Haverhals
Dies Tuesday at Local Hospital
Funeral services will be held at Bethel Christian Reformed church here at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 25, for John B. Haverhals, 80, prominent retired Sioux County farmer and resident of this vicinity since 1915, who died at the Sioux Center Community Hospital Tuesday evening, June 22, following a lingering illness.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Howard Vanderwell, pastor of the Christian Reformed
church at Lebanon, and burial will be made in the Lebanon cemetery under the direction of
the Co-operative Funeral home of Sioux Center.
The family has announced that friends and neighbors may call at the family home at 323 First
Avenue Southwest, Sioux Center, on Thursday evening.
Mr. Haverhals was born at Sprang Providence Noord Brabrant, The Netherlands, May 29,
1885, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sebrecht Haverhals.
He grew to young manhood in The Netherlands and was married there May 26, 1910, to Maria Aanen. To this union five children were, born.
The couple immigrated to the United States in 1915 and settled on a farm near Hawarden and
Sioux Center where they lived until retiring and moving into Sioux Center about 15 years ago.
Mrs. Haverhals pased away here November 18, 1960.
Survivors include the five children, Adrian Haverhals of Hawarden, Ann (Mrs. John Wiechers) of Hawarden, Johanna (Mrs. John Vande Kieft) of Sioux Center, Marie (Mrs. Floyd Van Kley) of Sioux Center, and John, Jr., of Hawarden.
He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four brothers.
Mr. Haverhals was a member of the Community hospital board of directors and of Bethel Christian Reformed church.
